My lovely friend Sharon at My French Country Home has a new blog design…
Sharon’s blog is one of my favourite sites to visit… and her blog is always full of creative inspiration… her florals are some of my most loved posts… Sharon has a knack of making everything look beautiful… Perhaps it’s the combination of a life lived in France with her endearing English charm.
Sharon also knows all there is to know about antique and flea market shopping in Normandy, her part of France. She conducts brocante tours around the countryside where she will introduce you to all the best dealers and arrange the purchases and shipping for you. Next year she has come up with a brilliant idea… shared container space…
In Sharon’s words…
“I have been hosting guests on buying trips here in Normandy for several years and I have seen all too often the frustration when someone sees an armoire, a farm table or a chandelier that they love, but don’t know how to get home. This year I have teamed up with a top international shipping company to enable you to purchase all that you desire and get it home safely and without hassle. My French Country Home will be chartering a 20’ container for the clients of each tour. The container holds 33m³ of goods. So each client can fill one sixth of that.
The price for the container space covers pick up in Normandy, full export wrapping, European and US customs clearance (but not duties and taxes), sea freight and arrival to a warehouse at destination. There will be additional handout fees by the company receiving the container, but these will be minimal. Insurance is not included, it is optional, and is calculated at 2.5% of the declared value. Also, any wooden casing for mirrors or extremely fragile items would be extra.
If 5.5m³ is too much for you, then come with a friend or with a sibling and share the space between you. If you think you can fill twice that space then bring your partner along and you can use two sixths!”
If you are planning a trip to France and are tempted by the antique and flea markets then please visit Sharon as she is hosting a really fabulous giveaway…
Sharon is offering the chance to win a private brocante tour, to stay in her guest cottage in Normandy and to go shopping at her best brocante addresses to find your very own treasure…
I wish we could all go… Wouldn’t that be fun? xv
