On or off the shoulder?
This summer season I have seen so many pretty off the shoulder blouses. Tempting but tricky is how I feel about the off the shoulder look.
Off the shoulder is a look that can be too frou-frou if not worn well. I am nervous to do the frills these days but like all fashion statements; when there is a will, there is a way.
How to wear the off the shoulder blouse?
The rule of thumb I follow is this: The greater the detail on the top of the blouse the more simple and classic the pieces below.
The bohemian style is so pretty when worn with white jeans or capris. This look is perfect for casual summer and can go anywhere with a pair of slip on sneakers or an espadrille. Wearing this off the shoulder look makes me feel carefree, less serious and more casual, like a no make-up day, there is a certain feeling of playing hooky, of freedom.
A more formal approach is to wear a no frills off the shoulder. This style works beautifully with a fuller skirt. It is elegant and flattering and a refreshing change from a ‘v’ or a round neck tee with short sleeves. The longer arm length is a winner; the arms are not only covered but also elongated, creating the impression of a leaner silhouette.
I’m very ok with that.
Did I mention off the shoulder works best in black and white? xv
