The LBD is the best wardrobe essential and I can’t think when I have travelled without one.
There is nothing worse than having that ponderous moment of what to wear. All that indecision can really upset the day and waste precious time. When it comes to the LBD there is nothing so easy to wear or accessorise.
There is only one dress that comes with me on my travels and it is the little black one. I have travelled with more, but like my 3 shoe rule, one dress only works. The others stay in the bag and never get worn. It is not intentional; it is how it plays out. Now I understand my away mentality, I pack accordingly.
I prefer to pack a dress that I know suits all moods.
A dress that can save the day when nothing seems right and one that will elevate my frame of mind. It is silly how we store so much importance in what we wear, how an outfit can drive our disposition but I don’t know many women who aren’t affected by this.
Catch 22; feel good look good, look good feel good.
Confidence is about so much more than a dress but the right one never hurts.
Which one and only dress?
My best LBD’s are those with give (thinking of those pounds that go hand in hand with travelling) and those that pack well. I want a dress that comes out of the suitcase, can hang for a moment and look ready to wear.
On my recent trip to the US I packed one black dress and wore it in various ways. A simple style with no embellishment at all so my shoes, jackets and accessories did the work.
