What’s the ‘double-up’?
I try and “double-up” on my clothing so I’m not carrying excessive amounts of baggage, especially if I’m moving by train.
Last weekend I went to Paris with my daughter and granddaughter – little people require a load of gear – and I needed to travel light. Which got me thinking about the “double-up”.
My “double-up” could have been called the “triple-up” as there was one piece I wore and wore and re-wore. It didn’t matter it was on repeat, we were permanently on the move and every day was a new story.
A very simple black dress. Worn with a trench to travel, with sneakers to walk our 1000s and 1000s of steps – that’s what Paris is all about – and in the evening with a pair of loafers. This dress plus or minus jewellery and a dash of red lipstick can go anywhere.
An LBD doesn’t have to be fancy or cost the earth, it simply must be comfortable and make us feel good. A simple Tee style can work just as well as an intricate lace or swishing taffeta. The art of a good black dress is to find one YOU love. This style has always been the one for me. xv
