Saint Rémy is a beautiful Provencal village in the heart of Provence. Le Petit Bijou, our “little jewel box” is a small house situated in the centre of the town. It is the perfect place to stay to explore the wonders of Provence and equally it is heaven to stop, relax and never leave the village.

I want to say thank you, thank you and a million more thank yous for being the best readers, the most generous souls and the most wonderful company this year. I have loved every second of our “conversations” and feel I am the luckiest woman in the world to have such engaging readers. France is one of my greatest passions, so of course I must share Provence with you.

Here is how it works.

The prize is one week’s accommodation staying at Le Petit Bijou in St Remy de Provence. The week can be booked anytime throughout 2017 or 2018 depending on availability. That gives you plenty of time to get excited and plan the trip, book the tickets and pack.

I start my morning off reading your inspirations for the day. A quick bit of energy or twist for the day or a moment away to vicariously go along on one of your ventures brightens my day. I have enjoyed your blog since the beginning . Being a francophile and interior designer I especially loved following the process of your creating Le Petit Bijou. I hope one day to have the opportunity to see it in person and experience all that you say it is! Thank you for sharing your tips and inspirations with us!

Hi, Vicki — I love your take on fashion, style, and — yes — life in general (because to my mind, it’s all of a piece). You are at once, high fashion and down to earth — a rare combination. Accompanying visuals are great. The contest is a fabulous idea. Should I be the lucky winner, you can be sure my French speaking fiance and I will take you up on your offer.

Dear Vicki
You are so right, France waves a magic wand over you. I have been to Paris three times, but I dream of Provence. I imagine sleeping in your beautiful home and awakening to the legendary Provencial sunshine to start an exciting day. Truly, you are living our collective dream…perchance to share it, this life changing. Does one have to return to reality after?

Dear Vicki, I miss France sooo much. I used to go there nearly every year when I lived in England. I had the most thrilling romance of my life one year in Ste Maxime – and it started at the baggage claim in Nice airport… The tales those suitcases could tell. I can remember what I wore on every occasion I met him. The elegant fashion and the aromatic essence of France seemed to be part of the mystique that heady summer. YES! YES! I’d love and appreciate a week at Le Petit Bijou in St Remy de Provence. Your inspiring site is a delight. Thank you for all your hard work!

My favourite place in the world is Provence . My sister and I drove around St. Remy trying to find Le Petit Bijou 2 years ago. All your fashion tips remind me of my French teacher who was so “chic “and entered the room on a waft of perfume. She used to mix Mystere de Rochas and Madame de Rochas together! I still remember it. Provence excites all those senses and I would love to stay at your little jewel!

Dear Vicki,
I went to school in Aix in 1976, and returned for a reunion eight years ago. My husband and I took the opportunity to also visit Arles, Avignon, and St. Remy. I took glorious walks through the countryside (many places where Van Gogh had been) as well as walked around the town, visited the fragrance museum, ate wonderful food and met some lovely natives who were so tolerant of my French! It is my dream to go back again, but $$ is tight. Nevertheless, I get my Francophile fix through your blogs. Thank you so much.

I have always loved reading your blog, and following you on instagram. It was an article you published about 3 years ago that for me, a 38 year old mom, helped change my mind. The article was about letting your hair go grey. After being totally inspired by that article ( and I shred it tons!!) I did it… no more 2 hour long, every 5 week hair apt. Now I get stopped almost every day and complemented on my hair. I have olive toned skin and sliver hair with wisps of black that ( according to many) is very envious. I have saved a ton of $$$ ( cue smiling hubby) and have found a new confidence in myself. My my hair apt are more about keeping the style fresh and ” cute” and dressing to complement. Thanks again!!! PS I would love to show off my hair in France!! C’est bonne!!

Thank YOU, Vicki! What a generous and lovely giveaway! I’m afraid that your Black Friday Sales ideas proved a bit too irresistible, and I spent a bit more than I probably should have of our 2017 travel budget on wrap coats! ;) But if we WON a stay, well, then we’d have to travel to France…and probably stay an extra week or two in the New Year. Your “Jewel Box” looks like exactly that. Perfection! Have very happy Holidays with your wonderful family!

I have incorporated many of the “Top 10 French Wardrobe Essentials” you sent when I first subscribed in hopes that I would look effortlessly elegant (still trying). I visited St.-Remy-de-Provence just once to go to the weekly market but didn’t have enough time to explore the village, so I would LOVE to return….and for a WEEK! Heaven in Provence. Hey Vicki……Am I eligible, despite already being generally lucky and fortunate in life? Just for the public record?……my first and only trip to St. Remy was marred (to say the very least) by a telephone call which revealed that a woman I’d known in gradskool had taken advantage of my absence to move into my house (yup…she was there the entire time I was gone) and open-up her volley of remarkably vicious and prolonged attacks. Suffice it to say that, after a year of my having to go through the courts, she finally ended up on 27 outstanding Federal warrants. She was a truly Varsity League stalker…..and she began with that telephone message, which I listened to as I sat in a cafe opposite Saint-Martin…..where, for obvous reasons,I couldn’t do much about the domestic situation 3000miles away. So, I think that I need to see St. Remy again, with a less preoccupied and worried mind.

In addition?….the first thing I did post-divorce was (predictably enough and as is common) think “What the hell am I going to do with this big, 220 year old house?”. The fifth or so thing I did (after the gnashing-of-teeth, the incessant wailing, and the destruction of at least one portrait in this house) was to think “Easy….it was renovated twelve years ago precisely so that it could be a B&B. It’s about to become one once again. Problem Solved.”

So, I can leave anytime I want, nowadays….and if I rent out the bedroom reserved for me and the dogs, I can even make money by absenting myself for a week (odd to consider that the most productive thing I can do to increase my guests’ pleasure is to just get out of town).

So, I may be the only applicant for the prize who’d actually make money from winning it. Odd, but true (as long as I don’t bother tallying-in teeny expenses such as an international air flight).

In any case, whoever wins is in for a real treat….I’ve seen the photographs of Le Petit Bijou.

Thanks as ever,
David Terry

I found you, your books and this blob, site, etc. years ago and truly felt like I found something magical. I went to Provence in 1999 and it’s been my favorite place (and password to all things) since. I have been eying this magical place online for years and just have not been able to pull the trigger. I have just had back surgery a week after turning 50 if that isn’t adding insult to injury! HAHA. I am not saying this for sympathy but it’s truly where I am in my life. I have done a lot of reflecting during and since my order and I could truly use that magical place to get myself back emotionally and mentally again. It was life changing in 1999 and I expect it would be again.

Thank you for sharing your gift of perspective to beauty……your insight has been an inspiration and provides a calm for me. I will be visiting seven battle fields in France in 2017 or 2018 to honor my grandfather who fought in WWI in 1918. He was in seven battles from June 1- Oct 27, Ainse Defensive, Chateau-Thierry Sector, Champagne-Marne (Rock of the Marne), Ainse-Marne Offensive, Vessel Sector, St. Michael, and Meuse-Argonne (where he was severely injured and lied in a muddy ditch for several days thinking he was going to die). St, Remy will be my closure to the trip….as I feel from your posts it will offer me calm, peace and a quiet beauty.

What a lovely and generous offer. I remember well when you were getting Le Petit Bijou ready, the renovating, the decorating, following with great interest. Unlikely to ever be within my budget, the opportunity to have a chance at a whole week there is too irresistible so here’s my comment…
I love this site of yours, your blog, and most of all your way if thinking. You’ve given me so many wonderful and thought-provoking insights, on such a range of subjects. The way I approach dress, hair, make-up has all changed since reading your blog, but more than that, how I approach life.
My favourite series has been “Getting to Know You Better” – such a lovely idea, and always a wonderful read.
I am grateful for this space you’ve created and your wonderful posts, delivered every day, so thanks are to you, and to your team!

There is no other place quite like France ! I look forward to your posts to bring back memories of my beloved Paris! I was a French major in College and have loved everything about France for almost my whole life! I was heartbroken last year when I was scheduled to attend the UN Climate Change Conference (COP21) in Paris, but my plans had to be cancelled due to the security issues. I worked from home for those two weeks – getting up at 2 am to be on Paris time and video conferencing with my colleagues and the delegates to complete my work on the Agreement. I cried when I saw the Eiffel Tower all light up in its glory to celebrate the signing ! Oh, Paris! my dear, charming, wonderful Paris ! What an exciting post this morning, I’ll be daydreaming for weeks about staying in your cottage in St. Remy! My last (& only) trip to Paris was in the early 70’s when I visited a girlfriend at the American College in Paris. I was 19 and had $20 in spending money and a suitcase filled with peanut butter, Hershey bars, Mexican peasant blouses and American rock albums to sell to all the students. What a dream to return now and enjoy it with a few more dollars in my pocket for the flea markets and to enjoy the countryside. Thanks for your wonderful posts and a chance to dream of returning to France!!!

Your beautiful book ” In a French Life” has offered so many suggestions of authentic Parisian places to visit, I have entered them in my personal travel log. And they are truly magical to experience, as you describe.
Arles has been an inspiring place to wander and muse in, visiting other towns of Provence is the next step. You offer so many lovely suggestions for Aix en Provence, to start with.
You make dreams come true, your blog is enchanting.

Morning(6th Dec in Aus.) Vicki
Think I am number 420 to email in order to be a chance for this unbelievably generous offer!!! It’s been a hellishingly sad year for me – lost my dear Mom, my best mate, moved house and now find my next best mate (my dog) has a very rare disease peculiar only to his breed and I want to run away to take some time for myself. This would be perfect!

Reply
Tessa Arthur

Hi Sue, just a brief note – I just lost my Mom as well. She was my best friend, and so I know precisely how you feel. Also I punctured my left vertebral artery from visiting a local hair salon that didn’t use neck protectors on their basins. This move to the UK to marry my fellow has been more than adventurous since I arrived. What I wish is for all of us to win. In this troubled world we all need a break in France. Good luck!

The thought of winning this generous offering would be a dream come true right about now as I sit here having a pity party for myself. First I was bitten on the foot by a poisonous snake in October (swelling still hasn’t gone down) and today I had a deep skin cancer removed from that leg. Of course I’ll come out of my funk soon.
Provence . . . I can practically smell the lavendar from here!

I’m rather new to your blog but not to loving all things French, especially the southern region of France. It is due to reading about you and seeing the photos of Le Petit Bijou that I visited St Remy a few weeks ago while touring for 11 days. All I can say is that the visit was too, too short. I would love to stay longer and experience the true town life. Thank you for the generous opportunity! Cheryl

So many more comments than usual but I do understand why. Such generosity is hard to find these days. Love your blog and hope to continue to be able to read it for many years to come.

Odds are stacked against me but what a gift it would be for me to win this. The giveaway day is my 29th wedding anniversary. Nice coincidence.

Hi Vicki
I feel I am talking to an old friend. Your site has inspired me with many things and I have followed it for many years I suppose we were maturing together. Lots of times I have thought above leaving a message but didn’t feel my messages would be as exciting as the rest.
I couldn’t pass up the chance to win a trip to beautiful France and especially Provence.
I would like to wish you, your family and all your readers a very happy Christmas and an exciting New Year. God Bless

As 2016 draws to a close and I reflect on the year that was, I think of all who have come into my life this year, and those who’ve left a lasting impression. There’s one special person who I’d love to bring with me to Provence – to show him another side of myself, and hopefully help him to discover the peace and serenity Le Petit Bijou will offer.

I found your blog and read your book. I took my first trip to Paris by myself this summer. Your writing encouraged me to go. France is the land of my ancestors as I am a descendent of King Louis the IIX and X and Charlemagne. My whole life I have had a fondness for all things French, the language, the ballet (I still teach), the art, music and culture. Seeing the countryside would complete this incomplete picture I now carry and I know that the beauty of it will speak to the heart of my being. Blessings for joyeaux Noel!!

Vicki, your eye for capturing the beauty of France and the essence of all things chic is quite magical and caught eye when I spotted your book on a friend’s coffee table in South Africa. I had moved to Ireland where I still live and wrote to you sharing my goal to start blogging. You encouraged me so warmly, I’ve never forgotten that. Since then my friends Nuala and Toni have stayed in your beautiful Petit Bijou and adored every minute. It has been a dream to spend some time in your little gem of a spot. It is top of my wishlist and I would absolutely love it! Thank you for the beauty and inspiration 💓

Oh Vicki, what an amazing gift. Living in Australia and suffering from fibromyalgia coming to your beautiful Le Petit Bijou would be more wonderful than I could ever imagine. I close my eyes and I can see all the things you have shown us over the years. There is nowhere else on earth that I would rather visit. I know you have so many readers who would love to win just as much as me, but I can always hope. Thank you for being so generous.

Many, many years ago I spent a summer in Nice with friends who lived a couple of blocks from the Promenade des Anglais. It was a time that I will never forget; not only to experience the intoxicating region, but to be able to immerse myself into the daily life of a family who lived there their whole lives. The marche, the food, the country house up in the hills, the secret coves along the coast that only natives knew of. It was glorious and the experience forever changed me. I have spent the rest of my life collecting Provençal country antiques; armoires, buffets, vase d’Anduzes. I adopted the habits and life code that French women live by and am forever enriched by my “immersion”. How I would dearly love to return. If wishes…..
