Weekend Wardrobe: Tee Off In Black

weekend-wardrobe-black-tshirt-vicki-archer

As perfect as a white tee is, so is its counterpart.

A black tee is as essential to the wardrobe as red lipstick is to the make-up bag.

One of those can’t live without pieces.

Like good reds, there are never too many black tee shirts; folded black tees live in multiples in my closet. Seriously, I stock and re-stock every chance I get. Whether I wear them alone or under a coat they are a serious go-to. As travelling companions they are perfect; little bag space and little headspace required. Throw on a black tee with black or with white – even the reds, pinks and emeralds – add the right accessories and it’s a great look.

I am in Italy for a quick two days and what is in my carry on?

3 x black tees, 1 x black pants, 1 x kitten heels for the evening, 1 x sneakers for day and a houndstooth jacket. Easy pack.

Black tee shirts require the same elements as the perfect whites to do their job. The right neckline, the sleeve length, the fabric and where they sit all make a difference. We worked out the how’s and why’s when we wrote To A Tee. A good tee is not necessarily determined by price and oftentimes the more expensive they are, the less I like them.

I have spent forever searching out good tees and working out what’s what. Sounds simple? Sometimes the most “simple” is the trickiest. xv
