When one door closes another one opens.
This is certainly the case in fashion. If the fashionistas are telling us the skinny is out then they are also proclaiming the cargo pant is back.
I am happy about this because I do love a cargo pant and for all the obvious reasons.
My old ones were worn to tatters so I’m stocking up and getting back into them. I had them in every colour of khaki, beige and the grey; they were my weekend wardrobe and made it 9-5 for much of the week. I wore them with a blazer and I wore them with a tee. I liked them with regular straight legs and I also wore the jogger style. Now I write about this I wonder why I stopped wearing them at all.
We have talked them through before and all of the same reasons to get them out still apply. They look great and 9/10 are very flattering. If you like a longer shirt or jacket to cover behind then the addition of the side pocket gives an extra detail to elevate the outfit to the next level. They are also cute as a crop with a sneaker, trainer or mule style of shoe.
How will I wear you cargo? Let me count the ways.
Definitely with a tee and pinstriped blazer.
Weather depending, a pretty embroidered or lace blouse.
I’m mad for monogrammed sweatshirts right about now (I’m working on creating a VA version) and they look great with a cargo.
Need more cover-up? Try an anorak style of a jacket over the top. Or a denim jacket – yes, they are taking another walk about this season.
