Finding Your Perfect Foundation

find your perfect foundation at nordstrom, giorgiio armani and charlotte tilbury

Is there such a thing as the perfect foundation?

Foundation is one of those products that can totally confuse. Frequently, new and improved products are launched that promise to add glow, reduce fine lines and make us look that much better.

I do know they live up to expectation, for without foundation I feel naked, undressed and that is not a happy thought.

Foundation is one of those products that can become routine.

I find one I like and I don’t budge. I am the first to try out the latest in most things, so why not foundation? Possibly because the application of foundation can go horribly wrong. Too thick, too colourful and rather than helpful it is anything but a friend.

Nordstrom have put together the top performing foundations and I am embarrassed to say that I have tried only a few. What is very clever is the way they have simplified  a complicated process.

Determine the coverage, choose the finish and then find the best shade. Absolutely right.

Making those decisions takes the guess work out, until we talk colour. The hardest part is selecting the shade and as I have mentioned before, beauty consultants often prefer a shade that is darker than I like to wear. I want a natural finish and one that blends with my skin tone not a “healthy” sun-kissed-holiday-in-the-tropics finish. Bronzer is where I find that.

The big question, which foundation?

Giorgio Armani foundation is my go to. My daughter introduced me to the ‘Luminous Silk‘ and I haven’t looked back. I wear it in the evening “full strength” or mixed with a drop of moisturiser. The Giorgio Armani glides on, stays put and is everything I hope for.

During the day the Giorgio Armani Crema Nuda Tinted Cream in greige or the Luminessence CC Colour Control in 02 are my can’t-live-withouts.

I adore these products but also know that experimentation is key?

I wanted to know which foundations are your tried and true favourites?

I am leaving my comfort zone and venturing towards the Charlotte Tilbury “Light Wonder” Perfect Skin Foundation. This brand is a new favourite with many and I want to learn what the buzz is about. Likewise with the Chantecaille “Future Skin” Foundation. This product receives rave reviews and I am ready to try.

Recommendations? I would love to know them… xv
