Faux fur is fantastic and a whole lot of fun.
I have been impatient to talk faux fur and as the temperatures drop and the sales start, now seems like a great time.
It’s not something to dig deep in our pockets over; faux coats look pretty fabulous at many price points. The idea is to pick your shape, length, texture and colour. I vote for long, or at least knee-length.
The idea with faux fur is to make merry and not take it too seriously. Some days are for forgetting the most flattering, the ever slimming, the totally classic and the ever-faithful elegant. Not that faux fur can’t be all those things; these coats have become better and better. I’m not saying we should forfeit our style and throw caution to the wind but I do feel a whimsical faux is an excellent addition to the wardrobe. They are cosy, warm and never mind the wind and the rain and they brush up pretty well after a big day out. What’s not to love?
Faux fur works well for the weekends, with the jeans and sweaters.
Mostly I like it worn with our best. It’s the mixing of the fanciful with the serious that appeals to me. A dazzling topcoat can add the pick-me-up element to an outfit without feeling like an overwhelming choice.
The faux fur is a statement oftentimes; It doesn’t have to be but if you are going all out, then it usually is. The grey, black, caramel and cream faux furs are far more practical and wearable, but the wild animal prints look seriously wonderful worn over an all-black outfit.
I am working towards the holidays and I feel like dressing up, inside and out.
Did I mention I have a serious love affair with coats? One of each please. xv
