Women have an incredible talent.
It is often underrated and goes unnoticed but I believe it is not only genius but also unique.
We are superb at multitasking.
The ability to multitask is one of the great differences between men and women. We have an innate ability to divide and conquer on a number of levels at the same time.
Is it a question of necessity?
Probably.
We are able to take on distinct roles and at the same time deal with them accordingly. We may not make a conscious decision to multitask but as women we often find ourselves with little alternative. How often have you been travel planner, administrative assistant, chauffeur, businesswoman and hostess at any one time? I have.
Or is it an intrinsic part of our make up?
Perhaps women are born with this wonderful skill.
Women seem able to duck and weave with ideas, with responsibilities and with all that we love to do. I find it incredible how the brain allows me to move rapidly between “worlds” and become one with all of them. I don’t think men are as flexible. From my experience, they generally chose to proceed one by one, systematically and in a controlled order; finishing one before commencing another.
Makes sense, but it’s not how we women roll.
How often can you watch the television, message on your phone, apply a beauty treatment and at the same time be mentally elsewhere? Bingo, that is a woman. Welcome to our world. We can hold multiple conversations and keep hold of the drift without blinking an eye. Our brain seems to love these distractions and the more multi the tasks, the better we become.
Compartmentalizing ideas is our forte. Working on varied agendas at the same time is our special skill and where we come into our own.
Don’t you think we are talented? xv
