Paris and first impressions.
Imagine Paris in the late afternoon, driving along the banks of the Seine through a winter landscape. Bare can be so very beautiful, so serene.
The dappled light, thrown wide over the river, whispered sweet nothings; the scene gave me such a sense of calm and familiarity.
Familiarity in a great sense, in the warmest sense.
Arriving somewhere familiar, even when it’s not home, can feel like home.
Paris has that feeling for me now, a home away from home.
I pinch myself to think of this, it seems so unexpected and yet it’s true.
First impressions were of festivity, of happiness and of joy.
Probably exagerated by my excitement and enthusiasm to be spending several days in a favourite city.
Paris is starting to dress up, to celebrate the coming holiday season.
First impressions and I thought simplicity.
At Hotel Bourg Tibourg a cascade of white prettiness over the front door; simplicity and elegance.
At Merci, illuminated stars and Christmas trees lighting the way.
Minimal decoration yet maximum ambience. How tempting are those gorgeous hanging stars?
First impressions, very good so far… xv
Today a group of friends are writing about the ultimate gift.
What would I consider to be the ultimate gift, the best gift that I could give?
That’s easy… it would be a love of all things French.
