Platinum And Pearl, Lafayette 148 New York

Platinum and Pearl, what a brilliant combination.

I wasn’t imagining jewels as much as colours. The mix of creamy pearl shades alongside the softest hint of grey. Not really grey, nor silver but somewhere in the middle.

The lustre of the Royal tiara, with the protective cream silk ribbon and the sheen on those Courrèges boots had me searching for spring wardrobe inspiration.

After our 50 Shades of Grey discussion yesterday I thought about the question of changing hair colour and fashion.

The colours that I wear have morphed over time, I do wear more grey, more cream and that soft in-between shade of platinum. It’s a deviation away from the dark shades that I love but one that I am increasingly drawn to. Blame the change of hair colour? Maybe. It might also be that there is an elegance and a serenity to these shades. You wear them, rather than the other way around.

When I am wearing the platinum and the pearl I find that my make-up is all important. A strong brow, which goes without saying now that the hair is so much lighter and a strong lip.  Nude lips work best for me if I’m wearing darker shades.

With dark hair there is nothing better than a dark eye and a pale lip.

During the making of The Top Ten French Wardrobe Essentials, I relied on Lafayette 148 New York for many of my go-to pieces. Mid range, good quality and with an impeccable style, they work well for me.

Nordstrom have asked me to curate La Fayette 148 New York’s spring collection and it would seem that we are all dreaming platinum and pearl.

Lafayette 148 New York is one of those labels that I find easy to mix in with my other wardrobe favourites and while the pieces are quite classic they are so easy to change up.

I will be wearing my Stan Smith’s with the polly three button jacket and slim leg ankle pants. Come to think of it the slim leg ankle pants and the Stan Smith sneakers will be out to play all the time.

And the tees and blouses, they work.

The maisie leather blouse, a pair of boyfriends or skinnies and a good heel; easy dressing.
