I have been swishing and popping with Charlotte Tilbury.
Not actually with her, but with her make-up.
It all started with her videos. Let’s rewind for a minute.
I had the idea to bring you a selection of videos each week from the lifestyle areas; a little fashion, some beauty, far and away travel and sumptuous interiors. As we scouted around to find those we would all enjoy, I started watching Charlotte Tilbury’s channel and saw her create make-up magic. She has an infectious, English personality with a little of the “rock” chic thrown in and for someone like me who has a short attention span I found myself engaging more and more. She has a way of holding interest, making the applications look easy and at the same time I was learning. If I ever make videos, Charlotte Tilbury will be my role model.
I don’t wear a lot of make -up. I’m not a fan of the overly made up and I find it too ageing for me. I am also not a professional when it involves applying products so it is safer to take the ‘less is more’ path. Watching Charlotte Tilbury create beautiful faces didn’t make me want to emulate all her looks in exactly the same way, the dolce vita, the vintage vamp and the golden bombshell stay firmly bolted down in my imagination, but it did entice me to try some of the products she was using and apply her way of doing things. She is super talented, clever and knows her way around a make-up brush. What she practices, works and better yet it is achievable.
Apart from the beach stick, the rock n’roll pencil and the Penelope pink lips I have started “swish and popping” my cheeks. And, believe it or not, I also love the “walk of shame” ;)
She’s a very fun new friend, xv.
