Coconut Crazy: The Beauty And Health Benefits

the beauty benefits of coconut oil

It would seem there is a trend and it is making us coconut crazy.

The more I read the more I want to go tropical; at least in the coconut sense.

Everywhere I turn I am reading the beauty and health benefits of the humble coconut. It is classified as a fruit, a nut and a seed so its potential is magnified before we even look heavenwards to the palm.

Apparently we need to relax about the high saturated fat component.

Coconuts are 90% saturated fat but in this case the saturated fat assimilates well into the body. There is a misconception that the oil is not good for heart health because it contains this large quantity of saturated fat. In reality, coconut oil is beneficial for the heart. It contains 50% lauric acid, which helps in actively preventing various heart problems like high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. After my reading I want to rush out and take advantage of the health and beauty benefits the use of coconut and coconut oil can bring.

As well as the health benefits from eating and cooking with coconut oil, such as aiding weight loss, increasing energy levels and helping to stave off infections, it also has a range of beauty benefits.

The coconut and I are going to become well acquainted over the summer.

The Many Uses of Coconut

Make Up Remover

Apply directly to the face as a cleanser and moisturiser.

Body Lotion

Full of Vitamin E, one of the most moisturizing thing you can give your skin.

Cuticle Oil

Apply cuticle oil to the base of the nails to remove peeling skin. It can also help a manicure last longer.

Lip Balm

Coconut is the ideal remedy for chapped lips. It hydrates, conditions and restores.

Under Eye Cream

Light enough for this most delicate area.

Night Cream

The antioxidants are wonderful for soothing fine lines and wrinkles while you sleep.

Hair Treatment

Shampoo and conditioner with pure coconut oil, hydrates, lock in moisture and add shine. Not forgetting coconut boosts hair growth.

Hand Cream

Soothes dry hands and it can also be used as a foot cream.

Relieves Sunburn

Apply a few drops of coconut bath oil to soothe inflamed skin.
